SLEEP SUPPORT

Still counting sheep? It sounds like an oxymoron but for some people sleep can be hard work. Work, money, family or personal stress can play havoc with a restful night. This affects day today activities and relationships.

Sleep is important, in fact it is often said that people can survive without food longer than they can without sleep. So if you’re waking up at night and struggling to get back to sleep then they are some possible natural solutions, as well as some techniques that may support better overall sleep patterns. Here are some tips that may assist in providing a more solid sleep.

•    Stick to a sleep schedule – try to go to bed and get up the same time every day (including weekends)
•    Pay attention to what you eat and drink. Don't go to bed either hungry or full, and watch tea and coffee drinks during the day. If you enjoy your caffeine hit, do it in the morning, early afternoon and don’t have any more after 3 in the afternoon.
•    Have a bedtime wind down pattern. You may start this an hour before bed. Have a bath, read a book, drink some relaxing tea. NB minimise electronic devices.
•    Use a room that is cool, dark and quiet. Use room-darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs.
•    Get Active. Exercise can provide happiness hormones that relax the body and mind. However be mindful not to leave exercise too late.
•    Watch your stress. Stress is just a part of daily life, the key is to be aware of it and to understand symptoms of stress that may not be so obvious.

In addition to these techniques, there are also some natural health supplements that may assist mood and sleep as well. The most natural sleep remedy may include a supplement of magnesium, 5-HTP, Tart Cherry Extract and a Vitamin B complex. All these may assist with the sleep prevention precursor, stress and help to ease the mind and relax the body.
